Safeguarding your privacy is serious business. That's why WineMetro's policy is simple: Except as provided in this statement, WineMetro will not disclose, sell or rent any personally identifiable information without proper consent. You, the WineMetro user, always have the final word on whether WineMetro knows who you are. It is your choice whether you wish to share personally identifiable information with WineMetro. We encourage you to consider sharing information with WineMetro only if you receive true value in exchange for that information. Please use discretion when revealing personally identifiable information while using WineMetro tools, as it may be collected and used by unauthorized third parties. Such activities are beyond the control of WineMetro. In other words, if for some reason you post your home phone number on the WineMetro forums (which, by the way, you should NOT do), you're on your own. Please take a minute to read our policy so that you understand your options, and how WineMetro collects, processes and shares information. If you have any questions about WineMetro's information practices, send an email to WineMetro's Administrator.

What information does WineMetro collect?
If you decide to join WineMetro, you are required to submit information about yourself. In order to use this website, a user must first complete the registration form. During registration a user is required to give their contact information (such as name and email address - which can be your new WineMetro email address). This information is used to contact the user about the services on our site for which they have expressed interest. It is optional for the user to provide demographic information (such as income level and gender), and unique identifiers, but encouraged so we can provide a more personalized experience on our site.
What are cookies and how does WineMetro use them?
The main function of cookies is to connect members with their stored account information so that WineMetro can deliver better and more personalized service. Cookies do not enable the WineMetro staff to access personally identifiable information that you haven't already provided.
How does WineMetro use member information?
WineMetro uses information collected from you and other members primarily to provide more personalized service and advertising, and to learn more about its audience demographic. WineMetro also collects market research data in order to generate sales to corporate clients. Market research data is always anonymous and is never used to sell anything to individual respondents based on their personal responses.
What information does WineMetro log?
WineMetro logs information automatically transmitted from your browser (URL of the Web page you were on before coming to WineMetro, IP address and browser version); information you submit through registration, forms for optional programs, surveys and other entries; and communications transmitted through WineMetro tools.
What is WineMetro's information retention policy?
To preserve our database, WineMetro retains information submitted by members for an indefinite length of time. WineMetro understands your submissions as consent to store all your information in one place for this indefinite length of time. WineMetro will nullify (scramble so that it is unrecognizable) account information if required by law or in response to a written member request.
How does WineMetro secure collected information?
WineMetro makes every effort to make sure your information is secure. Extremely sensitive information, like credit card numbers, is always transmitted in encrypted form. Your WineMetro account is password-protected so that only you and authorized WineMetro employees can access your information.
Links:
This web site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every web site that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by WineMetro.
Note to link owners: WineMetro displays contact information that you provide to promote your company, business or services. Any information submitted to WineMetro's ADD URL or CHANGE URL submission forms should be considered available to the public.
With whom does WineMetro share information?
We will share aggregated demographic information with our partners and advertisers. This is not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person. When visitors come to WineMetro, they may receive cookies from WineMetro's sponsors; this information is not shared with WineMetro. We use an outside shipping company to ship orders, and a credit card processing company to bill users for goods and services. These companies do not retain, share, store or use personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes. We partner with another party to provide specific services. When the user signs up for these services, we will share names, or other contact information that is necessary for the third party to provide these services. These parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of providing these services.
What action has WineMetro taken to protect the privacy of minors?
Because WineMetro is intended for people 18 or over, its registration policy is intentionally designed to identify people who are 17 or younger. We have also made an effort to specifically limit WineMetro's appeal to people of age 18 and older. WineMetro will not knowingly collect any information from children under 18. WineMetro has developed a process to verify and delete accounts belonging to members who are discovered to be under 18.
Note to Parents: If your child is under 18 and has become a WineMetro member using a false age, please notify WineMetro's Community Administrator, who will immediately close the account and nullify all personally identifiable information collected from them. If your child is under the age of 18 and you would like to know more about WineMetro's site, information practices, stored information or how to close your child's account, contact the Community Administrator. In both instances, you will need to provide your full name, address, phone number, credit card information, child's full name and member name so that your identity can be verified for the protection of the member's privacy.
What is WineMetro's opt-in/out policy?
During registration you choose whether to receive correspondence from either WineMetro or its partners, and whether you want to participate in a variety of WineMetro programs. This information lives on your Profile where you can, at any point, easily edit it to indicate that you have changed your mind. As for promotions, contests, submission opportunities and programs, you will not be included unless you opt-in.
Notification of Changes:
WineMetro's security and privacy policy are periodically reviewed and enhanced as necessary. This policy might change as WineMetro updates and expands its services. WineMetro will post those changes on our Homepage so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under circumstances, if any, we disclose it. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we will notify users by way of an email. WineMetro also encourages you to check the privacy policy periodically.
How can I reach WineMetro staff?
If you have technical problems, questions or other issues related to your use of WineMetro, please check out the Help section. WineMetro will respond to all requests sent through mail or email from members and parents interested in knowing more about personal information stored on the WineMetro database, having their personal information nullified, or have additional questions regarding privacy. Finally:
WineMetro reserves the right to disclose user information from both private and public areas of the site if required by law or if given reason to believe, in our sole discretion, that someone is causing injury to or interference with the rights of WineMetro members or the general public, or with WineMetro's rights of property.
